We had such a super time staying in the Gites at your property. We chose the 1st week in September deliberately and secured the quiet peace that school term time provides. It was your delightful property and the beautiful surroundings that provided the essential qualities to a memorable and relaxing vacation for us both. I cannot thank you enough for this and for your warm friendliness. Liz continues to remark upon the cycle ride to Pugnac for lunch and the navigation around the vineyards to the windmill. Kind regards, Stuart & Liz — Stuart & Elizabeth Grace, 17 Sep 2017
Just returned from a wonderfully magical stay in the Pinot gite. Accommodation is of a very high standard, facilities excellent for families, location a perfect blend of rural but lots to see and do nearby. Sarah and Patrick are superb hosts, whose attention to detail is evident all around the property. We would have booked this again for next year, but alas it is booked already for our holiday period, but we hope to be back some other time. — Frances King, 25 Jul 2016
We have recently returned from a 10 night stay in Chai Apartment and had a wonderful time. The apartment was perfect as were the surroundings, so peaceful and relaxing and both Sarah and Patrick were lovely hosts, would highly recommend to anyone and we look forward to returning in the not too distant future. — Pauline Glynn, 24 Aug 2015
We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Merlot gite with our 2 children (5 and 8) and had such a fabulous time we have booked to go back again next summer! The children had a brilliant time in the pool (perfect for little ones with the big steps into the pool) and they loved feeding the donkeys. There are plenty of bikes for the children which our 8 year old loved as lots of flat space for her to ride around on. Sarah and Patrick are fantastic hosts and always on hand for any queries and Patrick was kind enough to send us a couple of deliveries of fresh vegetables from his garden! The restaurant in nearby Pugnac is well worth a visit. Merlot is really spacious and kitchen well stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. We enjoyed some delicious local wine from the nearby Chateau and cant wait to return next year! — Denise Findlay, 29 Jul 2015
What a charming place! Awesome owners, Sarah is delightful she made us feel like we were in our own home! Very clean, large rooms great gardens! We had a wonderful time during our stay! Recommend the Vine House to anyone!!! — Sally Ryan, 24 Apr 2015
We stayed for 2 nights at the end of July 2014 in the B&B and wasn't disappointed at all. We were greeted by sarah who showed us where everything was and was warm and welcoming. The vine gites is in a lovely location and is a perfect base for exploring the local areas. Pool was great and my 13yr old couldn't have wanted anymore.....trampoline, mini golf, bikes, friendly donkey (yes I said donkey) and much more. Breakfast was lovely with fresh croissants & pastries with a selection of cereals. There is a communal fridge in breakfast area which we found most useful. Sarah couldn't have done anymore for us, a real hidden gem. We are hoping to back this year (AUG 2015) to re-visit. — Laura dove , 16 Mar 2015
Myself, my husband, 2 kids (aged 8 and 5) plus my parents and mother in law spent a week here from 11th-18th July. I had booked our first ever Eurocamp holiday at Hourtin Plage (the other side of the Gironde) followed by a second week in Merlot. We spent a wonderful (if cramped!) first week with 7 of us in a mobile home and I was worried that the 2nd week couldn’t match the first. It did and was so totally different to our first week that it felt like we had 2 holidays.
The accommodation was so spacious and homely and also exactly like the pictures on the website. However what the pictures cannot convey is the atmosphere. It is so tranquil and relaxing and all the other guests were friendly but not intrusive. Sarah and Patrick were very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. The kitchen was well stocked when we arrived with all the essentials and they also brought us fresh tomatoes from their garden one evening.
The kids loved feeding the donkeys and playing in the huge garden on the climbing frame. We also made good use of the pool although the kids did find it a bit cold on the days that weren’t really hot. We had intermittent wifi at Eurocamp so the wifi at Merlot was much appreciated the 2nd week. We also found ourselves playing Boules, Table Tennis and cards late into the evening.
There wasn’t a village within reasonable walking distance so we did need a car to do any shopping or explore the local area however we also enjoyed going for walks and runs in the surrounding countryside. We went into Bordeaux for a day and also into Blaye to celebrate Bastille Day.
Sarah showed us round the guesthouse and apartments before we left and they were as impressive as the gite.
If we were in this area of France again I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone else.

An idyllic location in the French countryside. The kids had a ball with all the outdoor play facilities which meant we did too. Our hosts couldn't have been lovelier. Thanks for a great holiday. — Alex Wenderoth, 30 Jun 2013
We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay! We rented one of the gites for a weekend and everything was perfect! The house is beautiful and really comfortable for 8, the area is very charming and Sarah is one of the nicest hosts ever... Absolutely recommended. — Darian, 11 Dec 2012
From the moment we arrived at the bed and breakfast we were greeted by Sarah we knew that we had made the right decision to make a reservation here. So much so that the first question we asked was do you think that the four of us can stay another night! Thankfully Sarah was able to accommodate us and went out of her way to be helpful and give us advice. Our room was huge with a double bed and a day bed ,separate bathroom and tea and coffee making facilitates in our room as well as the use of the lounge downstairs. We were able to enjoy our wine and dinner sitting out in the lovely garden and swim in the pool. The fig trees were laden and we were told to help ourselves, were able to use the washing machine which after being on the road for a while was very helpful. Sarah suggested the perfect place for us to go out for dinner just a few minutes away and suggested somewhere to stay when we reached the Dordogne. Great stay and will recommend it to all my friends. Thanks again to Sarah & Patrick — Jill & Allen Wright, 20 Sep 2012
We stayed in Merlot gite as a family of 5 adults and 2 children, the remainder of our family were in Pinot gite next door. Both gites are extremely well maintained with lots of rustic charm and perfect for large family holidays. Sarah and Patrick were really lovely people and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The pool was very welcoming after a day in the sun, the crazy golf and boules provided were a nice extra. The outside space made the evening barbecues perfect. I would love to return one day and would highly recommend them. Our first night was spent in the B&B across the courtyard and I would recommend that highly too. The rooms were clean and spacious. The gites are approximately 40 minutes from St Emilion, 15 minutes from Blaye and Bourg and approximately 40 minutes to Bordeaux centre. Wifi access was also a bonus. — Louise Masters, 18 Jul 2010
We had a really wonderful week in Merlot Gite. Very spacious and well equipped, gardens and surrounding area even nicer than in the pictures, huge amount of outside space, ideal for children to play in (ours are 2yrs & 4yrs, but would be good for older children too). Owners very helpful and friendly. Ideal location for 2 families, or family and grandparents to all stay together. Thanks for a great holiday will definitely be back! — Kay Soudah, 17 Jul 2009
